To know how to be a chef in your own kitchen is kinda nice, you know why? You might just really enjoy what you prepared!
Today I decided on baked chicken, grabbed the nutmeg instead of the black pepper, hey, it was very good, ha. It is harvest time after all.
Swish a little Worcestershire sauce on those pork chops you are broiling or grilling, it adds a very rich, juicy flavor.
Saute’ some celery, carrot, chilies, and fresh garlic for that omelet. The cooked garlic is very beneficial for us. Something you can enjoy every day.
Enjoy a stomach soothing tea. Chop and peel some fresh ginger root, simmer in water, seep, and enjoy. It’s great if your stomach is a little off.
I don’t mind using left overs. I will even incorporate a left over rice and chicken stir fry into soft tacos using corn tortillas. Add your favorite greens and salsa and you have a real winner!
Avid gardeners have all the organic produce they could ever want. Have you ever grown your own tomatoes? There is nothing like them! You must try it!
Homemade tomato sauce is fabulous. And sometimes adding a touch of sugar or honey can make the sauce a little sweeter and less acidic. Simmer, simmer!
Your morning coffee can be even better with honey, vanilla, agave, or a little brown sugar and cream or milk of course.
Good idea to wear gloves when roasting and peeling those hot seasonal chilies. There fumes are very strong. Study your chilies.
Did you know that pumpkin contains the vitamins, A, C, and E? That’s a good reason in itself to enjoy it in some of your recipes. Even if it is pumpkin pie or pumpkin cookies. Yes!
Another ingredient I like to use in my egg omelets is fresh spinach leaves with some grated cheese of course.
Julienne those veggies. Makes them easy to store and use for all sorts of dishes, plus they look pretty and they are a healthy snack and or appetizer.
My All American Mac and Cheese Hamburger!!!!!
Serves 6
18 ounces 80% lean ground beef or beef of your choice.
6 large potato buns.
6 slices fresh tomato, each 1/4 inch thick, 2 inches in diameter.
12 fresh lettuce leafs.
6 slices fresh sweet onion, each 1 1/2 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick (optional).
6 slices cooked bacon.
18 tablespoons of cooked macaroni and cheese.
3/4 teaspoons each of salt and pepper for 6 1/8 teaspoon portions.
6 teaspoons of olive oil.
Grill 6, 3 ounce portion burgers each with 1/8 teaspoons each of the salt and pepper sprinkled on each 3 inch diameter burger until well done.
Cook the mac and cheese as directed or of course use your own homemade mac and cheese.
Cook the bacon until crisp.
Heat the 6 hamburger buns to lightly toasted brushing each with olive oil.
Proceed to build your burger as you like.
Toasted bun, lettuce leaf, burger, tomato, onion, mac and cheese, sliced bacon, and lettuce leaf, top with toasted bun and there you have the ” All American Mac and Cheese Hamburger”.
Needless to say this burger is for a big appetite. Of course add more condiments, such as pickles and olives, etc. Enjoy that burger!
I must admit I may have a little Italian in my blood. I just love Italian cuisine, don’t you? You know even left over mac and cheese with tomatoes is yummy indeed!
Homemade is best, treat yourself, it’s all good!
Just thinking of a delicious homemade tomato sauce, and a little pasta with a little wine for lunch could be a daily ritual, ha!
What’s for Lunch or Dinner?
What are you having for lunch and or dinner? I always like to plan for those parts of the day and evening.
Gardens come and gardens go but you know it doesn’t have to be that way. The way to enjoy it is to always have something nutritious growing, even if it is only a pot of Italian parsley.
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and I think that is true for the way to a woman’s heart is through her tummy too, AHHH!
What gal doesn’t really admire a guy that can cook or have a fabulous restaurant to take her to regularly.
Some people become foodies. They really get into purchasing the fresh foods each day and cooking up a storm so to speak, ha. I think I can agree with that.
Back to that homemade tomato sauce for a moment. I like to add the fresh spinach leafs to the sauce for flavor, nutrition, and color.
I think too, we all enjoy our fresh salads, yea, I like to enjoy one almost each day.
What’s better in your fresh salad, everything you like, right? A variety of greens, that’s for sure, and again, your fresh spinach and or kale leafs. Include them and enjoy! Remember, great meals are works of art! More Culinary Chit Chat to Come!
